What an excellent movie! A simple thesis, well-executed, convincingly acted, and with a nice twist at the end.
The couple in the poster photo above meet through a dating app, and the movie tracks their journey as they fall in love, only to find that one of them makes increasingly insensitive and unachievable demands on the other. Both are on the rebound from former relationships, mostly kept off-stage, and both have children, also off-stage, which adds to the conflicts. Happy times can change all too quickly to sad; arguments can erupt over nothing: will the relationship triumph?
Carefully observed, the movie was shot over the time period it portrays: essentially 13 scenes over as many months. Often very intense, that is tempered by the occasional humour and also the joy when things are going well. Best of all, the script stays on focus, not asking more from the material than it has to give. A must-see!
